Il de Ray is getting frames welded onto it for the repair of Basslink. Once it gets going that is going to take a while. That is the month. So the only other option is to grab a vessel of opportunity which is out of Taiwan. And then it will have to get the spares off the Il de Ray meaning it will probably have to steam to Geelong to get the spares. Unbelievable bad luck.</div><div id="AppleMailSignature"><br></div><div id="AppleMailSignature">Without any knowledge from what the outage (pump or shunt) and what is the remedy it is hard to understand. But the chances of 2 faults concurrently is so low it's not funny. The Il de Ray has never done a repair in anger and two concurrently is just unheard off. <div>I sure hope not. Back in the PIPE days we had a
maintenance agreement which had a steam out in 24 hours
from New Cal (Il de Ray/Alcatel ship). 4,500km from Guam
is around Cairns and it's pretty benign.</div>

<div>That should only take about 2-3
days steaming and water depth is between between
2,000-3,000m from memory. Easy lift/splice/drop. Should
be restored fully in a week (assuming mtce agreement is
still in place and even if it's not it would just cost a
few more $$ normally). Rumour has it there is a pump
failure in a repeater somewhere off PNG so they might
claim the force majure on that one amd repair it while
they are down and the ship is steaming/on mtce. That's
another few days and lift/replace.</div>
