<div dir="ltr">This seems like a fairly redundant act if it's not required for your business. All of the people doing metadata retention are doing so because they have a business requirement. As has been said, but perhaps the significance missed....<br>

The first question you need to ask is:<br>
"Am I a carrier or ISP *AS DEFINED UNDER THE ACT*??"<br>
<br>
If the answer to that is "No", then you have absolutely, totally, completely ZERO requirements or obligations under the (meta)data retention legislation.<br>
<br>
If you provide email or any other "OTT" services that the act requires you to keep data for, but you are NOT an ISP or carrier, then the legislation simply DOES NOT APPLY. Period. End.<span class="HOEnZb"><font color="#888888"><br>
