There are plenty of reasons the ASX hasn't tracked the US markets lately. Absence of big tech companies may be one of them. Suspect the fact we're in what looks like the tail end of a long growth cycle has more to do with it, esp as USA is coming into new growth cycle after dipping far deeper than we did post-GFC.

S

On Wed, Jul 22, 2015 at 1:25 PM, Chad Kelly <chad@cpkws.com.au> wrote:

Hi all Just noticed this on the SMH website.
I don't know that this article is totally accurate though, as plenty of Australian providers have been investing in growing their businesses.
But a lot of investors won't invest in tech if their is no innervation, and you have areas like the hosting industry hear in Australia where a lot of the bigger players are buying out competitors.
Plus a lot of tech companies hear in Australia are privatly owned, not publicly listed so its hard to find out whats being invested in. A lot of Australian companies in the tech space have global relationships and partnerships it is just they don't have the scale of the likes of Google.
You can't really compare Google with the rest of the Australian tech industry for that reason as Google have a lot of funds that they can invest into projects.
