I notice in their docs, they also claim 800,000 hrs MTBF, which "should" be 91 years. I wonder if I can put in a warranty claim, it's throwing errors after just under 18 years 3 months in service!</blockquote><div><br></div><div>No, it "shouldn't".</div><div><br></div><div>Most manufacturers calculate MTBF (or more correctly, Annual Failure Rate, which is the real measurement they actually use) over the first 5 years of the drive. Once you get beyond 5 years, all bets are off.</div><div><br></div><div>Your disk is 8 years old, so the published MTBF numbers are meaningless as far as it's expected failure rate at that point in it's life.</div><div><br></div><div> Scott</div><div><br></div></div></div></div>
