I was interested in Simon Hackett's blog/talk earlier in the year,
where he mentioned that they can still do interesting things on a
shared medium such as HFC, as long as they deploy more fiber to feed
smaller segments.<br>
<br>
<a href="http://simonhackett.com/2014/09/06/rebooting-the-nbn/" target="_blank">http://simonhackett.com/2014/09/06/rebooting-the-nbn/</a><br>
<br>
He acknowledged fiber would be best, then went on to point out that
the pollies aren't paying for fiber any more, which I think is a
fair if regrettable point.<br>
<br>
I'd be happy enough for NBN to drop their service onto the co-ax
into my lounge room, if I had to share it with a limited number of
houses for a clear step up in performance, compared with the ADSL or
Telstra HFC that's available where I live. Now, lets just see it
happen.<br>
<br>
No rush either, tomorrow or next week would be soon enough.<span class="HOEnZb"><font color="#888888"><br>
