We ran an outbound proxy and forced all users through it at ${job-1}, purely so we could run LightSquid over the logs, to ensure staff were sticking to the rules on non work related sites (aka only outside of 9-1 and 2-5). Other than that there wasn't much point, as 90% of web traffic was Https anyway.. (hotmail, gmail, facebook, twitter, plus our in-house apps which were all within the PCI environment, so had to be HTTPS) It was also a good way to pickup if a staff member had some kind of infection, as you'd see their http hits go through the roof.

Just poking around and I can see that almost all of Google is over HTTPS these days. Facebook, including images are over HTTPS, as is Twitter and most of the other "top sites" I could think of. It actually makes me wonder how useful an (outbound) web proxy would be given everyone is pushing to have secure connections everywhere.
