<div dir="ltr">I think that vendor selection should always be more about just cost.<div><br></div><div>You should be considering:</div><div><br></div><div>- Available skill pool of engineers</div><div>- Vendor support, training, etc</div>
<div>- Distribution and supply held</div><div>- Partners and expertise</div><div>- Quality and compatibility</div><div><br></div><div>We considered becoming a Huawei partner for networking kit at one point as we were working with them on another project (STB).</div>
<div><br></div><div>Their kit looked pretty ok. Reasonable price... but they were the easiest to deal with, choose a blah distributor (at the time), and their training courses cost a significant amount... and one rule I operate on... I don't ever pay to sell a vendors product... It is their job to find the right partners and skill them up.</div>
<div><br></div><div>I also felt that the market in Australia wasn't that tolerant to Huawei at the time.</div><div><br></div><div>This was 2 years ago, so a lot (most likely) may have changed.</div><div><br></div><div>
