Just to add to everyone else's comments, I've had no issues with my
DrayTek Vigor 120 bridged to a x86 Mikrotik either.<br>
<br>
Is this maybe an issue isolated to Aus? I presume Alexander you are
based in NZ (based on your .nz domain), which is the same as myself.<br>

Thanks,<br>

I think the key to your problem is...<br>
"At the moment most of our sites use a standard
consumer-grade ADSL<br>
modem in bridging mode"<br>
That would imply that you don't have access to
any DSL stats from the modem?<br>
</blockquote>
Certainly not all, but definitely some ADSL
router/modems continue to be<br>
addressable in bridge mode. Even some low-end
models, like the Draytek<br>
Vigor120, provide line stats even when in bridge
mode. It doesn't seem<br>
to be the sort of thing they put in the spec
sheets though, so a bit<br>
hard to find out before you buy.<br>

Just a small heads up for this particular OP.<br>
I've had issues with draytec's in bridge mode with
linux PPPoE running through them dumping the
connection every hour and 6 minutes.<br>
They may well have fixed it by now they were very
rapid to respond to a query on WP but I never followed
up as I swapped out the modem before doing any further
diagnostics.<br>
<br>
So do a test somewhere you can easily access before
putting it in the back side of whoop whoop.<br>
<br>
Other than that they are nice gear and I use them in
several locations non bridged.
