CAT5/5E/6 is as much of a certification standard than it is a
cable type. Distance is not as important as the final product's
electrical characteristics meet the standard. When getting any
block or structured cabling installed it's important that the
contractor provide a report as to the products suitability and
that it be certified to the standard specified for the project. <br>
<br>
For example some times shielded cable is needed if there is a high
noise environment or cross talk with other systems is in play. So
the question is not how long can the cable be. The question to the
cabler is will you be providing me a certified installation and
then let him tell you If it can be installed or if you need
fiber/regen<br>
