<div dir="ltr">Been down this path myself in a way, I've spent ages trawling through my networks, following up careers websites and applying for expression of interest roles. Sadly very little seems to work through these when it comes to actually getting a role. I don't see any real issue with people hunting for jobs here, its a change from the usual trawling of Seek, Snipey, MyCareer etc and it does show a certain level of initiative (and guts) that many others wouldn't have.<div>
<br></div><div>In any case, the IT job market (at least in my part of the world) is certainly doing it tough at the moment, even a quick trawl of places like Whirlpool show similar stories for jobseekers out there.</div><div>
Heck, being unemployed and looking for IT work can be a full time job in its own right!</div></div><div class="gmail_extra"><br><br><div class="gmail_quote">On Sat, Jul 13, 2013 at 4:21 AM, Tom Storey <span dir="ltr"><<a href="mailto:tom@snnap.net" target="_blank">tom@snnap.net</a>></span> wrote:<br>

You didn't stick a sign up in the town square saying "I need a job, hire me" and expect the employers to come knocking. That would have been considered lazy and you probably wouldn't get a job as a result.</div>
<div><br></div><div>From the posts on this list you have a good spread of carriers, hosts, solution providers etc, so, grab the domain names from peoples emails, visit those web sites, and check out their employment section and/or send them your resume. Thats got to be about the modern equivalent of door knocking.</div>
<div><br></div><div>Short of it being considered spam (depending on the individual), you might also email those people and ask them if they can refer you on to HR.</div><div><br></div><div>At least it looks like you're at least putting some effort in to trying to get a job, rather than sitting back and waiting (which might also be an indicator of your work ethic). Thats just my POV. :-)</div>
<div><br></div><div>I think the key difference is that there is already a well established system for job seekers (agencies, websites, etc), so the occasional, very industry specific job ad posted here is much more "tolerable" than job seekers using it as a means to reach recruiters.</div>
<div><br></div><div>But either way, I'll leave it to the mods to decide whether its in the spirit of an operations list.</div></div><div class="gmail_extra"><br><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div><div class="h5">On 12 July 2013 05:16, Daniel Watson <span dir="ltr"><<a href="mailto:daniel@glovine.com.au" target="_blank">daniel@glovine.com.au</a>></span> wrote:<br>
