<div dir="ltr">I was generalizing not referring to anything specifically. If you take skype as an example though it uses a 256bit key but it wouldn't be considered insecure. Key length alone doesn't make the ciphertext secure if your cipher is weak. If you used a 2048bit key with a substitution cipher it would not take long to figure out.<div>
<br></div><div style>All I was pointing out was that people would start developing stronger encryption methods for comms as companies are forced by governments to work on breaking them, or, as governments themselves are known to be able to crack those comms. Also as I said thats not different from today's world but with laws like this going through or trying to be passed in more countries it becomes more public and noticeable the developments around comms encryption as people have an interest in protecting their privacy.</div>

Guberments are starting to realize they are losing the ability to monitor their citizens where necessary by law, (It doesn't help that these same guberments abused the laws in the first place though) and are starting to look at ways to get that control back.</div>
