If you buy from a reburb company, you find one with a good reputation that provides you quality kit... but even they won't give you much more than a couple of months for most purchases... they do their due-diligence to a certain degree, but if it works when they test it, and send it to you (most will provide a printout of the test these days), and it is DoA - then... that is a problem. What happens if it was damaged in shipping and you didn't pay insurance?
