Hello,

I have been collating data centre outages to as part of my research into causes of outages and reliability factors. I was aware of a number of outages relating to Pipe Network in Brisbane and was looking for further data. I was reviewing the Ausnog archive for the outage dates and noticed something strange.

I found the date of the 2 major Pipe Network outages in Brisbane one on the 23/06/11 and the other on the 05/07/11. There was a third outage recently.

When I went to review the Ausnog archive I noticed something weird. The mail archive seems to not have any posts on it from the date of the first outage until the end of the month. It's as if the data was not recorded or wiped from the archive. I investigated the second major outage and the mail archive doesn't have any mail from the beginning of July until the day after the second outage. Again, it's as if the archive has either not recorded or been deleted.

I know there were posts on this subject but cannot find them on the archive. Then when I looked the only time the archive has not recorded a full month is when Pipe Network experienced a couple of outages in 2 different data centres.

Anyone with information on these and any other data centre outages including incident reports, please send them through. But is it normal policy for Ausnog to remove posts relating to outages from the archive, or is this something a little easier explained? I understand the mailing list has been operating fine between these periods, it's only the archive that seems to have not recorded anything between the 2 outages.

Thank You

Tim.
