Whats the actual rate of allocation other than the /8s?

ie, how long untill all the IPs in these five /8's are gone? Google-foo isn't giving me anything

Expected to be 5 to 10 years, for APNIC at least.

But of course, that's only half the story...

APNIC is estimating somewhere between 3-6 months until they have allocated the two /8's they received last week. These are normal allocations, and will be distributed following the normal rules.

The /8 they got today will be allocated using different rules - basically a maximum of a single allocation of /22 to anyone, with the intent that the allocated space will be used to assist in the transition to IPv6. Given that allocation strategy, it's expected the last /8 will last 5 to 10 years.

So depending on your perspective, somewhere between 3 months and 10 years.

One way or another, things are going to be ugly pretty soon...

Scott.
