actually on power levels injected at certain levels of
resistance calculated over distance; the 1.1km full speed range is
based on an average of 0.4 PUIT copper. This run happened to have
a large section of 0.6 PUIT as the exchange service area was split for the
installation of a new exchange some years ago, and a lot of new, high quality
line went in. So that is actually still obeying the deployment class
rules, just got super lucky with the cable run.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>

they're done. </DIV>

<DIV>The limitation about speed is much more related to the deployment
class than what's technically possible. Our EFM equipment quite
happily maxes 5.7Mbps/pair when allowed to, but as distance increases
beyond 1km, what speed you're allowed to do drops.</DIV>

<DIV>We have many pairs which are running happily at the 5.7Mbps/pair
maximum. So delivering 10Mbps within 1km or so of the exchange is
fairly straightforward.</DIV>

mode off - Annex M 'steals' downstream channels and makes them upstream
channels, and it is the lower frequency channels, which contribute most
to the aggregate, that are most affected. Turning off "annex M mode" is
likely to push at least 1200 kbps or more back to the downstream - and
