Hi,
I don't feel the time is yet there. It may come next year, but
rushing forward now may make something we don't want to happen

This is a concept which I have been considering in
depth for about two years now.

It's gone as far as a planning stage, but we pulled back in the belief
that, as a commercial organization, we do not add any value over
current commercial operations - put quite simply, it's a "nice to have"
but as an commercial venture it is doomed to failure (this is a
testament to the quality of PIPE's product).

I am both willing and able to participate, whether it be financially or
through the provision of space (co-location or otherwise) to make a
venture such as this a reality.

Anyone in Brisbane who is *serious* about making this happen can
contact me either on or off list - I am happy to provide resources,
strategic direction or moral support (whatever is most needed) and I
don't doubt there are others like me willing to support this kind of
operation.
There's reasons for this.
The large telcos don't peer publicly because they want to sell transit.
Larger ISPs that started peering when they were smaller ISPs are waking
up to this.

ISPs in the European/American markets have woken up to this. You can't
necessarily get peering with everyone these days. The telco's may be
at an IX but they won't peer with you at it. The reason the large
telco's were historically at the AU IXes is because of the MLPA mandate.
It does not at all mean they do not peer.
