[AusNOG] Death of IPv4 at Verizon has started.

It was also pointed out on NANOG that the email originated from Verizon Wireless, and seems to be targeted to customers with wireless/mobile products.

On this basis - any reports of the demise of IPv4 across the whole of Verizon would seem to be alarmist, and exaggerated, in the absence of further clarification from Verizon.

Regards,
-Brad.

Are you saying the reports on nanog are false? That was quoted
from a letter sent out by Verizon to their existing customers.

What's alarmist about this? As Verizon have stated they don't have
IPv4 addresses to give new customers for their servers how do you
expect your IPv4 only customers to reach them?

Do you expect Verizon's customers to go out and find static IPv4
addresses from another company which is dual stacked and forward
the traffic to their IPv6 addresses?

Are you running a DNS46 service which supplies a IPv4 address when
there is only a IPv6 address and wires up at protocol translation
on demand? Is every other ISP that doesn't provide IPv6 doing the
same?
