Requests have to come from an approved government agency, they do not get access to your systems, you just have to give them the data they ask for in whatever format it's in, there is no specification as to format.

You could give them a raw mail server log and let them work it out as long as it has the required information in it.

Just curious in general not specifically to Paul.  The gov't has to request the data.  They can't log in themselves.  Correct?

Also, it'd be interesting to see how many requests are made.  Are ISPs allowed to say how many requests are made (For example, on
AusNOG) or are there NDA type requirements?
