Hi Andrew and Noggers,

I will certainly be happy to post a summary of what recommendations I have received, and what was selected and why.

Just may take a few days, as I have been flat out.

Cheers,
Mark Currie

mark,

would you be kind enough to summarize your findings, and possibly approx pricing info?

it might be useful as i am sure there are other folks looking for ToR in the move to 1/10.

Hi Noggers and Happy New Year,

List has been pretty quiet!

Anyway, hoping some of you may be able to provide some recommendations for a couple of decent Top Of Rack (ToR) switches, requirements are 1Gb/10Gb, support for deep big buffers (iSCSI) and stacking, Layer 3 routing, VLAN’s (a given), budget of about $15k for 2 switches. (I know budget is low, but that’s what the client has to work with). Have looked at the Dell and HP ranges, and the ToR switch are out of the price range (HP is $30k-$50k for their converged gear)…Is a retail 24x7 environment, so must be robust and stable…

Please email me off-list, don’t want to clog the list unnecessarily.

Cheers,
Mark Currie
