[AusNOG] PPC1 broken

I sure hope not. Back in the PIPE days we had a maintenance agreement which had a steam out in 24 hours from New Cal (Il de Ray/Alcatel ship). 4,500km from Guam is around Cairns and it's pretty benign.

That should only take about 2-3 days steaming and water depth is between between 2,000-3,000m from memory. Easy lift/splice/drop. Should be restored fully in a week (assuming mtce agreement is still in place and even if it's not it would just cost a few more $$ normally). Rumour has it there is a pump failure in a repeater somewhere off PNG so they might claim the force majure on that one amd repair it while they are down and the ship is steaming/on mtce. That's another few days and lift/replace.

Again just 3rd hand and happy to be corrected by TPG/PIPE.

Cheers
