I thought our 24 rainfall was probably getting up there, seems I was
right:

"Broome's just had it's wettest December day on record with 226mm of
rain..."
https://www.facebook.com/ABCKimberley/videos/10154868688697156/

Shire, Power and Water crew were out this morning monitoring and
fixing damage.
Sat feed for radio and TV is sporadic but I get good DX to Europe on
21MHz USB and I can hear Singapore and Japan on 50 MHz FM very clear
so tropospheric ducting to the North is lovely.
We have scattered embedded thunderstorms, known cloud base within 30
miles is about 500 feet, maximum known cloud base 35,000 feet,
visibility down to 2k's in rain.

I'm available over Christmas/New Year if anyone needs remote hands.

If anyone's got any kit in the Kimberley or Pilbara be aware the
region-wide flood warnings due to a rain bearing tropical low North
East from Broome and Tropical Cyclone Yvette, currently estimated at
800k's NW from Broome, not expected to reach more than Cat 2 intensity
so she's packed full of rain.
Broome's had 200mm and counting since 9am yesterday, for some
perspective our yearly average is 400mm and with the two low pressure
systems with associated trough we're expected continued wall to wall
grey with constant drizzle until probably Monday or Tuesday.

If you're on Facebook it was like this at 9am today

and this

Broome airport was closed for a while this morning with flights
diverted to Port Hedland, services have been restored on a logistics
basis.
Last time we had rain like this we lost power for six days so I hope
your UPS's are ready.

What's that actually look like?

...and if you don't know where Broome is select "Cities" from the
Layers option at the bottom left, then look to the North West of the
country near the big swirling clouds.

As we wind down the office here and try to leave early, just a
thought and well wished farewell for the pre-christmas period.

	May all your routers/switches/POI’s/Servers/SAN’s/powered
equipment work without fault for the next week!

	Merry Christmas All!
