Regularly checking inside the portal checking for updates, looks like the splice is now fixed.

Fibre splicing has been completed. Not all services restored. Possible hardware issue being investigated at exchange. Technician on site.

Props to the blokes in the field always.

Hi Andrew/Anthony,
I'm really going to resist getting into a flame war here.
I'm also mindful of the ausnog rules about professional respect.

Diverse paths or protection are a option when buying services from any carrier.
It's cheaper not to buy protection, but you really need it when something hits the fan. - (eg.a cable cut or router issue).
As mark has said, Are you paying for diverse paths or protection on your services?
As a general note;
Some cable cuts can be hard to fix and take time - could be washed away, could be difficult access, could be remote, could be a damn hard repair job etc.
There is no magic powers when it comes to repairing cable cuts, just very hard working splicers and field staff.

Note2: if you are a Telstra Wholesale customer, Please refer to the customer portal for updates about this current cable cut.
Please speak to your Telstra Wholesale service manager if you don't currently have access to the portal.
This is updated as information about comes to hand.

Telstra wouldn’t know what magical powers is and as for diverse paths that costs money and they stopped spending money on their networks a long time ago. Until it started to fall apart around them now they think they can throw a bucket load of cash at it to fix what they neglected to fix years ago.

I still wonder why Australia’s keep giving their cash to the idiots.......

Regards

Andrew

Fibre cut between Charlotte and Parramatta since 9:58am yesterday. Some of our QLD services are out. No update since 4:23pm either.

Looks like Telstra is Thriving On their Magical technological powers again. Have they heard of diverse paths?

We have had NBN services down in the same area, faults came in after 430.

Coincidence?
