[AusNOG] microsoft office 365 routing and peering

Hi All,

Just troubleshooting some performance issues with office 365.  The tracert and RTT don't collate for my simple brain !!

I'm in Adelaide, looks likes trace is going

Adelaide (Customer)
Adelaide (Telstra)
Perth (Telstra)
Perth (Microsoft)
Melbourne (Microsoft)

However I can't see how the pings are 45ms to Melbourne hop via perth ?? I'm kinda expecting 30ms to perth, then add another 40ms or so ?

DNS shows we either hit a Sydney or Melbourne server.  RTT around 45 for melb 55 for syd.

We are also peering with Microsoft and I'm thinking about enabling our office 365 traffic to go over the azure express route.
