I still wonder how much of Turnbull's poor performance as communications
manager was under direction from Abbott, and whether we may see some
changes after the change of leadership.  I just don't think someone with
his legal, business and comms background (as much as his comms background
could well have been in the legal/business side of things) thought that
some of the policies he was pushing forward were any good.  I wouldn't put
it past him that he was happy to push stupid policy in the name of
destabilising the leadership of the time...

There's also the chance that he *could* retain the portfolio (or return to
it, given he gave it up yesterday as part of announcing his intention to
challenge).
