[AusNOG] Strange Watchguard X550E

Not sure I would be bashing vendors on list.

WatchGuard Support is actually not bad.

We had an issue with firmware bugs on a bunch of redboxes (multi-WAN failover) and the overseas support kept calling me with suggestions and custom updates until the problem was solved.

My support contract had expired on 2 of the devices (we had support on the 3rd) and they still provided support and a patch for zero dollars.

I would call that pretty good support and committed to their customer (me).

Im not gonna pay $1200 plus for a devise that is EOL

their support staff overseas are useless anyways, only decent people are the level 1 staff in Sydney and Robert Collins

It was almost like an internal loopback of no existent traffic

but then in your original email point out:
Now i saw the load and traffic spiked to 100%
I'd suggest you have your initial debugging direction figured out - go work out where that traffic is coming from, because it clearly isn't non existent!

Carnt contact watchguard as units are out of warranty and i have no need to renew them for the branch office

Perhaps now you do have a reason to renew your support also? :)
