Could you not simply approach your accounts manager at NextDC and raise a
case with them to let you out of any pre-arranged commitments now that they
are offering no contract periods? Wouldn't that be the first thing you would
attempt?

Web hosting talk is full of people doing no contracts.

All this means is that the providers like us who have space in next dc and
are committed now lose out to people who can join with no contracts?

Apologies... but is this AusNOG or the NextDC/Megaport PR list?

Alternately, if someone can enlighten me as to the operational relevance of
these kind of posts (given this release in particular is hardly major news;
other colo providers have been doing no-contract deals for years), I'd be
most appreciative.

Regards,
-Brad.

Media Release

17 November 2014

NEXTDC first-to-market with pay-as-you-go colocation

BRISBANE, Australia - 17 November, 2014. NEXTDC Limited (ASX: NXT),
Australia's leading Data-Centre-as-a-Service provider, today announced the
launch of their FastStart colocation bundles, offering customers a 30-day
contract option with remote management capability.

This minimal commitment pay-by-the-month option gives customers a faster way
to access the full benefits of NEXTDC's enterprise-class colocation services
and Cloud Centre ecosystem to develop their hybrid cloud solution.

>From a 1kW Quarter Rack up to a 6kW Full Rack, FastStart offers a flexible
and customisable colocation bundle supported by the same resilient data
centre infrastructure and customer services as traditionally purchased
colocation.

"Businesses are demanding cloud-like flexibility from their data centre
service, and NEXTDC is fulfilling this need by improving and expanding our
range of industry-leading products and services. The introduction of
FastStart reflects our commitment to maintaining our position as Australia's
most innovative data centre provider", said NEXTDC CEO Craig Scroggie.
"FastStart radically accelerates speed-of-access to enterprise-grade
colocation and our Cloud Centre ecosystem, giving customers the opportunity
to hybridise their IT strategy with future flexibility."

Paired with NEXTDC's NXTech Smart Hands service, FastStart bundles mean
customers' entire service with NEXTDC can be ordered and maintained
remotely, from receiving deliveries to building, operating and managing
their infrastructure. NEXTDC Project Management services also assist with
planning and managing a migration project or other major infrastructure
changes.

This combination of customisable colocation and on-the-ground data centre
expertise makes FastStart attractive for SMEs without their own expert tech
staff; offshore organisations wanting to establish an Australian presence;
organisations unsure of their upfront colocation requirements; or those
needing to rapidly deploy IT infrastructure in any of NEXTDC's facilities.

NEXTDC racks come ready with ID access cards (IDACs) for 24/7 data centre
access, and can be monitored remotely through NEXTDC's award-winning data
centre management portal, ONEDCR. ONEDC allows users to manage their entire
service with NEXTDC, across multiple facilities, from any web-enabled device
through a simple, easy-to-use interface.
