[AusNOG] Extended Reach Vocus, Doody St to NSW-IX

Daniel,

That's very strange, if it's a 100mbit port for example which is all you would need which they are receiving in one location and handing off in another location it's just a Layer 2 circuit so a high packet per second switching rate seems to be a strange concern, maybe worth touching base with them again.

Gday Nathan

Just spoke with my account manager with my provider, and they would generally not offer me this service due to PPS if we WERE to get an attack over peering, the chances of that are low, but my provider said they wouldn't risk it, unless we purchased our own dedicated backhaul

Daniel,

You would just need to touch Equinix SY1, SY3 or Global Switch from Doody Street to touch NSW-IX. You have multiple fibre options with dark fibre running from Doody to all of these locations. I would suggest speaking to your co-location provider as they can likely provide you with a 100mbit interface at a reasonable price back to one of these facilities for you to touch NSW-IX.

Gday Guys

Just wondering if anybody currently uses extended reach to jump on the NSW-IX Peering fabric from the Doody street facility?

We are looking at jumping on this fabric soon, but need a bit more information on extended reach, and also pricing for such service

If anybody has previously used it, or is currently, if it's not too much to ask could you please swing me a reply off-list

Cheers

D.
