[AusNOG] Telstra 4G Static IP's

One thing we looked at a while ago for backup 3g links was Cisco’s ezVPN stuff, its basically like a client VPN connection in that you don’t need a static for it to function.

I did a little bit of testing on it and it worked, it might do what you require, we had it running on our 3945 router from a 1941 but it should also work on an ASA AFAIK.

Not sure about the Meraki though.

Thanks,

I want to do tunnels from a Meraki to a Cisco ASA. I want to put a Cisco Meraki at a display home and do a tunnel back here. Will work fine for the NBN and ADSL connections. Not so much for the displays that have 4G only because

Yes I know I can use the Telstra.Corp APN and we currently do but we are leaving Telstra soon and want a different solution

Setup a free "meraki" account.

put the device on telstra extranet.

that way you will always know the public ip, as its live polled every few secconds.

Hi Brad,

No, you can't.
There's been some discussion on the list about this before and people have suggested some alternatives like dyn-DNS.
