Certainly not all, but definitely some ADSL router/modems continue to be
addressable in bridge mode. Even some low-end models, like the Draytek
Vigor120, provide line stats even when in bridge mode. It doesn't seem
to be the sort of thing they put in the spec sheets though, so a bit
hard to find out before you buy.
