I still run a transproxy squid for one site that's behind a satellite 
link. If you want something a bit less manual, Netbox Blue sell a small 
appliance for not too much that has squid inside. It'll even cache iOS and 
Mac upgrades and apps, which is still handy on 100Mbps link.
