Dear Greg

I’m not talking about running a 1gbit SFP in a 10gbit SFP+ port…. This works ;-)

I’m talking about running a physical 10gbit SFP+ adaptor in a SFP+ port 10gbit Device physical connected to a 1gbit SFP device which also works.

Our End (Brocade MLXe) 10gbitSFP+ <---- Connected to-----> 1gbit SFP (Customer or ISP or Upstream equipment) = 1gbit link

Megaport use Brocade MLXe … we also use Brocade MLXe

Kindest Regards

James Braunegg

I think the argument was that the Megaport platform (switches ?) didn’t support 1G SFP’s in 10G SFP+ ports?

We are also running 1G LR & Ethernet SFP’s in 10G ports on our Nexus 7k’s without issue.

Dear Skeeve

I beg to differ…….

Please find an example and screen capture below demonstrating that running 10gbit fibre SFP+ into a 1gbit SFP port is possible and does work.

Dear All

If you have a Single mode 10gbit SFP+ (used in say a Brocade MLXe router, like what Megaport use)

And plug this into a 1gbit SFP single mode (at the other end, i.e. your equipment) the service will connect and work at 1gbit perfectly ;-)

Are you asking if its possible, or have you noticed a fault where your current connection has negotiated down to 1gbps?

Hi AUSNOG,

I am wondering if anyone peering with Megaport has negotiated down to Gigabit on their inter-connect?

Thanks
