It would depend on the gear you are buying.  Some gear comes with a single PSU while others have the option for 2.

Critical devices Servers, routers, switches should always have 2 PSUs.  You would hopefully get 2 power rails into a rack so one PSU goes to each.

When you buy equipment for a DC, would you expect it to come with dual power supplies, either as an option or as a standard?
