[AusNOG] Government sets parameters for NBN

Being an avid supporter of the FTTH network (lets call it the NBN), I
personally wish they would now prefer MT shut the program down until Labor
can get back into power and get it back on the rails again.

In my opinion, the FTTH was expensive but invaluable, however this
technology mix (lets call it PN for public network) is not going to solve a
majority of the problems we have in place today - only the dire ones (like
pair gain problems preventing any kind of fixed line networking at all). I
can't see this network being financially viable - all I can see it doing is
preventing the public from getting any kind of access to reliable high
speed networking. I am expecting this will happen via a policy change that
prevents even the 1km extension of fibre networks, killing our chances of
fibre completely. Welcome to your network connections - much of a muchness
from 2002-2040.
