[AusNOG] routerOS ... used to be RE: Cross Connect Pricing & Peering POP's

Hey Alex,

The RouterOS system is by and large both incredibly cost-effective and
feature rich for what it is (a software based router); we carry RB450G's
around in laptop bags as they can act as a serial -> IP unit, BGP peer, or
basic vlan switch etc.. super handy little unit's to have in a pinch. I've
been working with them for nearly 8 years now so I can answer most any
questions if you want to wing me an email off-list.

Further to this, as I'm seeing more of these MikroTik/RouterOS question
emails come through in AusNOG every now and again I'd like to mention I do
some free MikroTik consulting for a bunch of people in my spare time via
admin at mikrotik-routeros.com (there's some folks here on this list who can
vouch for me if needed) so anyone here is welcome to hit me up if you run
into problems or have questions.

Other than that, if you're looking for an entirely free solution I would
add a +1 to utilising BIRD (and I'll add that at least two of the well
known IX's in OZ are currently using BIRD in some capacity)

Cheers,
Andrew Cox
