James,

As you mentioned below Vocus does indeed have fibre terminations in both IR1 and IR2; these FTPs are fed by diverse street fibres that connect to two separate points on our core fibre network so we are able to provide diverse dark fibre directly into either Meet Me Room

Also we have our own separate diverse ties from these FTPs to our POP within NextDC; so we are also able to provide Ethernet or Transit services directly to both Meet Me Rooms without requiring additional cabling from NextDC.

If you require further information please don't hesitate to contact me off list.

Regards,

Alex West | General Manager Operations - Vocus Fibre

Subject: [AusNOG] Vocus - Fibre Provisioning - NextDC M1 Information

Dear All

Just wondering if any Vocus fibre provisioning team members lurking online… I’m trying to get an answer regarding Vocus and NextDC M1 tonight….

I know Vocus have fibre FTP’s in NextDC M1 meet me room IR1 and IR2, although I’m trying to establish if Vocus can actually provision customer services to both IR rooms.

Reason I ask is Pipe Networks can only deliver customer services into IR2, so if you’re in IR1 you then are dependent on a NextDC tie cable cross connection between IR1 and IR2 which adds unwanted points of failure / potential issues etc.

So I guess my key question is “Can someone confirm which IR room Vocus can deliver customer services to within NextDC M1.”

Kindest Regards
