For the most part, an ethernet cross-connect with a /32 is far simpler - as long as you pick a diverse upstream.

Also means you don't need any DSL router, authentication, copper, phone line costs, or DSL plan. 1Mb of bandwidth will get you enough to do emergency firmware downloads, email alerts, SSH/RDP/etc inbound. Ethernet is also unlikely to every have issues compared to DSL and 3G.

Just drop a DSL line in via a different carrier + static IP and you're set

This might not be particularly related to the request, but why don't DCs provide some sort of 'standard' OOB (for a price, or for free with X monthly spend, whatever)? Especially something like NextDC who are at the forefront of new thinking...

Or even an OOB company itself?

Or maybe I'm just ignorant :)

Hey all,

I have someone looking for a cross-connect with minimal transit (1mb) and a static IP for some out-of-band access.

They are in the main M1 hall, and not in one of the cages. If you can easily cross-connect and delivery a service like this cheaply, please drop me a line and I will forward it to the party needing it.
