[AusNOG] NBN Co Aggregation advice [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

Thanks Tom.

Judging by the suggestions, we will now also compare something from the ASR 1000 series for aggregation. We would prefer to keep the footprint as small as possible, so 1 box, 2 if you counting HA.

My understanding is that the ASR is capable of policing to the CIR per virtual circuit and for the NNI uplink to the CVC rate

UNCLASSIFIED
Chris, are you planning on using another device behind this switch to manage individual sessions? Or is this device going to do that? If you are using the one device, you need to look at the policing capabilities of the switch to make sure it can appropriately police traffic into the NBN NNI (you need to police traffic on each end user service to the purchased rate, then police the overall bundle of services to the aggregate CVC rate).

Tom

Hi Mark,

We are in the process of completing our WBA so haven't got to the actual onboarding process yet.

I was on the hunt for kit to finalise costs from the initial budget and also start thinking about a sandpit for testing.

Never the less, I'll hit up our account manager and see what is on the certified list.

Cheers,

Having a Cisco background I have been looking at the Cisco ME 3800X-24FS. All off spec so far and haven't played with one in lab environments. Haven't had a chat to our cisco account team yep either.

If you're using it on the end of an NBN NNI, you'll have an easier time if you talk to NBNCo about
devices and software releases that have already passed their qualification tests.
