Or, buy OEM optics.

A quick search shows that 10g SFP+ optics are now $128 each (Avago, from
Digikey, MM), and a 10m LC-LC patch lead is far less then $300. Even going
to Finisar (who make a large fraction of the transceivers that vendors
re-badge) adds less then $30.
