Sorry typo error ie should be WS-G5486.
Will try to move the switch closer and using longer patch cable to get rid of the middle rack in between to reduce no of patch leads.

We use Mode Conditioning Cables at both end so it should work with our
WS-G5484 transceiver 1000BASE-LX/LH long haul GBIC (singlemode or multimode) OM1 Fibre run according to Cisco.

I can see port at the Core is up but no joy at the Access switch.

As suggested , we may need a OTDR test done on the run.

Thank you all for your advises.

Qui,

It might work, but you definitely need the Mode Conditioning Cable (to make sure the single mode optics in the transceiver launch down the side of the multi mode core). But you are right on the limit for a single fibre run. Each patch will add loss - and with six it all adds up. Unfortunately most enterprise network equipment is pretty much go or no-go as far as determining whether it works. You probably either need a OTDR test done on the run, or run things and 100BaseFX.

Regards, Martin

We run 550m of OM1 fibre from our Cisco core to a remote site over 6 hops included rack to rack and we can not
seem to get any connectivity. Using both Cisco GLC-LH-SM transceivers at both the Core & access Switch.

Does anyone know if there are hops limitations for long haul fibres.

Any advise is much appreciated.

Thanks
