[AusNOG] Preparing for Recovery for Brisbane and QLD - ITEquipment Supply

Brent & AusNOG,

At least one of our distributors (Express Data) has implemented a
prioritisation protocol for flood response. I would suggest that others
will be doing so shortly if they haven't already.

It is vital that you flag your situation with your distributor, to
ensure that you receive appropriate priority in the restoration of
critical infrastructure. I would also recommend that you flag with your
Cisco account team as per my previous email. Again if you have issues
with finding the appropriate Cisco person, or contacts within your
distributor, I am happy to assist.

Express Data are running 24x7 order prioritisation and fulfillment until
further notice, with the priority given to firstly search and rescue,
emergency services and critical government departments (hospitals,
housing etc), then critical infrastructure including energy, water,
telco's and service providers.

I would expect that stock levels will follow once the disti's have a
chance to work out what's needed and run their orders, but in the short
term, existing stocks nationally are prioritised to respond to this
disaster.

Our thoughts and hopes are with all of you and your families in this
situation.

I guess having lots more stock available for shipping through the
disti's would be a help.

Mark,

You're correct, it shouldn't be that hard!

In the case of Cisco, your Cisco account team should be able to answer
these questions for you. I'm sure it'll be similar for other vendors. If
you don't know your Cisco account team, please send me an email off
list.

There's a number of concerned Cisco people on this list wondering how we
can help with what's going on in QLD, and we're open to suggestions
where we can.

Also it's hard to know what "IPv6 Support" on specification sheets
covers when there is some IPv6 support. You have basically got to
buy a box to find out what it does. It shouldn't be so hard.
