[AusNOG] IPocalypse now (?)

On Monday, 31 January 2011 at 10:30 PM GMT time, IANA made the allocation of 39/8 and 106/8 to APNIC, leaving 5 remaining /8's.

039/8 APNIC 2011-01 whois.apnic.net ALLOCATED
106/8 APNIC 2011-01 whois.apnic.net ALLOCATED

One each of the remaining /8's will be allocated to each RIR. Once the RIR's are out of space in their current supply and they only have this 1 /8 left, it will trigger policies relating to how that /8 will be allocated.

So, will this event... the IPocolypse actually motivate people to move forward and deploy IPv6? I wish it would, but the sad reality is it probably won't for most people, not until they experience personal pain from having no IPv4.
