worst come to worst, you spend $gigabyte on 3G data for your phone and use that for the few weeks.

you've said your in Hawthorn, its not as if you don't have a wide selection of wireless/3G coverage.

likely the cost differential is actually minimal between what you pay in Telstra line rental and what it'll cost you data plan wise.
