[AusNOG] Where are all the Network / Security Enginees?

Hi all, this is my last post on this issue (sorry for those not interested)

I really did not mean to offend a particular person, and I also agree that contributions are appreciated by all persons regardless of their employment status etc, I am truly not the discriminating type at all. I certainly am old enough to know better and to hence be more careful what I say and will be..

I did not mean to offend Eric, it was not meant to be personal, but rather the idea of recruiting here was not appreciated by me, but those that have been vocal on this issue appear to welcome recruitment on this forum and I stand happily corrected.

I will however never agree with the view that "all are equal but some are more equal than others"... George Orwell said it best.

I was flaming a bit and I did not mean to, sorry again Eric.

Best regards to all.

Accepted...

Stephen, we all work together here... and the fact that Telstra, Optus and other big telco staff are on AUSNOG helps us all.

I have no problems with people posting positions to AUSNOG - but it isn't a recruitment mailing list - and needs to be respected as such so we keep the recruitment to a minimum - but they should be tolerated far more from 'regulars' or contributors that people joining just to post an advert.

Eric is a good contributor to the list and has earned the right to post the occasional recruitment advert

Off topic I know.

But...

Stephen don't you think that is just a bit uncalled for?

Both were just asking for some honest replies, yet you come in and make a joke of them?

Even though I know I may have cracked a slight joke (let it be known it was followed by a serious question though) I think you have taken it too far.

Professional courtesy should be upheld, even by you.

</rant>

Phillip, on the sydney job.. it states "Or equivalent experience" what would you say this would be set at?
five years experience?

Cheers!

Two words that should be added to the Charter:

You guys are serious hilarious.

If you run a great company people come to you, you don't need to advertise... tip: good place to start :)

Good luck with your search [not being facicious].

hopefully this is not bad form, rather then sending starting another thread on this topic for those that are not interested, instead i'll append to this one. Hopefully you don't mind the competition for candidates (although I suspect we're after different segment of candidates).

http://www.google.com.au/intl/en/jobs/sydney/engops/opsit/security-engineer-sydney/index.html

We're also after Network Security engineers<http://www.google.com/intl/en/jobs/uslocations/reston/engops/datacenter/network-security-engineer-google-com-reston/index.html>, but you'll need to consider working in the US.

I'll take that on the chin, but for the record, I'm an engineer not a recruiter.

The level of interest off list far outweighs the flames, so I'm happy.

PS. If your staff are happy you have nothing to fear ;-)

Welcome to Seek / Telstra

We should change the charter to include exclusive recruitment channel for Telstra

How unusual for Telstra to not care about the rest of the market. :)

All,

I wouldn't normally consider this, and hope posting this it isn't poor form (the charter makes no mention), but having exhausted all the usual methods we are still struggling to find a Network/Security Engineer in Sydney CBD with either the right level of experience, or the enthusiasm and aptitude to make up for it.

So if you know anyone who fit's the bill, and might be interested feel free to contact me off list or view the JD here - http://www.seek.com.au/job/network-security-b-engineer-b/sydney/18023781/97/1/

We are willing to train the right person if nessessary.

Apologies in advance if I have broken any unwritten rules here!

Eric
