First thing that comes to mind when reading this little conspiracy theory is one of the premises of NBN is that it will be sold and made a commercial entity; imagine SingTel/Optus having an interest in DoD critical infrastructure?

Subject: [AusNOG] NBN - military pretense?

Hi All,

Ive been reading up on our military buildup and some of the proposed big spend.

All of this military gear would benefit from having a robust communication infrastructure (fibre in the ground) so Im wondering how much of the NBN story could be driven by the need to keep up with a future Chinese arms race.

Surely the NBN is driven by lots of requirements, but how important do people think the military angle is?

Have a read of this article I found http://www.mediaspy.org/forum/index.php?/topic/20752-several-nbn-questions-answered/

I love my consipracy theories!
