An editorial in the Bangkok Post claims Google assists Thai authorities to censor - principally, comments about the Thai monarchy.

There's nothing innocuous about this when you consider Thai nationals do serious time (17 years in one recent case) for commenting unfavorably on the monarchy. Censorship is part of the apparatus of control and Google are part of that apparatus.

"Google's problem now is that it has taken a principled stand against censorship - but only in one of many cases. Abandoning China was a difficult business decision for Google. But by doing so, the company may have an even more difficult decision: How to justify other censorship, including the cooperation with Thai officials?"
