Subject: [AusNOG] IPSec VPN and Vodafone 3G ?

Hi all,

After yet another large bill from too much Telstra tethering through my iPhone I grabbed a Vodafone wireless broadband stick for use when I'm in metro areas. Only problem is that I can't hold up an IPSec VPN over it. Tried native IPSec and also IPSec over UDP. Spoke to Vodafone and they swapped my account onto a public IP address (nice to have) but still no go. They tell me that as it's not a Vodafone VPN they don't support it. Tried to explain that it's normal Internet VPN and it works over every other internet connection I have. No dice. They just don't get it - even the escalation guy didn't know what IPSec was.

So, before I start looking at debug logs, anyone out there been down this path before? Cisco VPN client talking to a router over Voda?

Thanks

David
