INTERNET SOCIETY ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Leaders from academia, industry, and Internet community to provide
leadership in Internet related standards, education, and policy

RESTON, VA, USA and GENEVA, SWITZERLAND - 21 June 2010 - The Internet
Society today announced its new Board of Trustees, comprised of
leaders from industry, academia, and the global Internet community.
The diverse and distinguished board membership reflects the Internet
Society's mission of providing global leadership in promoting the open
development, evolution, and use of the Internet for the benefit of all
people throughout the world.

Members of the Board with terms beginning this year are:

*       Narelle Clark, Independent consultant and Vice-President of
the Australian Chapter of the Internet Society
*       Eva Frölich, Co-founder of Frobbit!
*       Bob Hinden, Check Point Fellow at Check Point Software
*       Lawrence Lessig, Director of the Edmond J. Safra Foundation
Center for Ethics at Harvard University, and a Professor of Law at
Harvard Law School

Raúl Echeberría, the Executive Director of LACNIC (the Internet
Address Registry for Latin America and the Caribbean) was reelected as
the chair of the Board.

"The incoming Board of Trustees continues the Internet Society's
tradition of bringing together diverse individuals around a shared
passion for ensuring the Internet remains an open, global platform for
innovation, economic development, and social progress," said Raúl
Echeberría, Chair of the Internet Society's Board of Trustees.

During its first meeting held 19-20 June, the new Board formally
thanked outgoing board members Hiroshi Esaki, Ted Hardie, Desiree
Miloshevic, and Patrick Vande Walle for their service.

Other continuing Members of the Board of Trustees are:

*       Eric Burger, Independent consultant
*       Daniel Karrenberg, Co-founder and Chief Scientist of RIPE NCC
*       Khaled Koubaa, Founder of the Arab World Internet Institute
*       Alejandro Pisanty, Professor at the National University of Mexico
*       Philip Smith of the Internet Architectures Group of Cisco Systems
*       Lynn St.Amour, President and CEO of the Internet Society
*       Bert Wijnen, Research Engineer at RIPE NCC
*       Jonathan Zittrain, Co-founder of the Berkman Center for
Internet & Society and Professor of Law at Harvard University

"The deep experience and expertise of the Internet Society Board of
Trustees continues to provide a unique, strategic perspective on and
guidance for the global community of members and Chapters working to
ensure the Internet is accessible for everyone, everywhere," said Lynn
St. Amour, President and CEO of the Internet Society.

The Board of Trustees appointed Eva Frölich as Treasurer, and Scott O.
Bradner was re-appointed as Secretary.

Trustees serve in the interest of the Internet Society as a whole, and
are appointed or elected by the following groups: Chapters,
Organization members, and the Internet Architecture Board (IAB). More
