Shortly before ISP's on AusNOG voluntary decided to filter federal government, ACL and their associates and redirect them to a page that tells them to keep their grubby hands off our freedom? or are we just going to sit on our hands and let it happen?

Yes, it appears it's going to get worse and no they're not going to listen: 

"The government has been consulting with the internet industry over the proposal...All parties to the consultations have been sworn to secrecy"
