[AusNOG] Whitepaper: Understanding Carrier Ethernet Throughput (and have your say, anyone?)

Hi everyone,

Many of us here either use or provide Carrier Ethernet services and now and
then have to deal with throughput issues, internal or escalated to us by our
customers. The topic of performance of Ethernet services is convoluted,
highly religiously charged and, as such, is a bloody angry hornet's nest.

To my joy, I recently came across a white paper on the very topic (which is
good, as I was putting off writing one myself for ages), and I am glad to
say it is the best and most complete I've seen to date. It is not without
its issues and has some quite questionable points, of course, but is a very
good start.

The paper's home is here:

As it were, this white paper is in review right now, and I would like to
encourage anybody who feels that the topic will benefit from constructive
feedback to contribute their thoughts to the corresponding discussion group:

Apologies if the judgment of whether to post this here was flawed :)
