Subject: [AusNOG] G.703 / E1 Ethernet NTU Suggestions

Afternoon All,

I am looking for feedback on what people are putting on the end of X.163
/ E1 circuits. We have been a long time user of Patton boxes however we
need to look at alternatives that specifically provide a greater level
of information regarding the status of the circuit than the current
solution of having to count the number of pulses the status light gives.

I like the look of the Adva equipment but I suspect for most cases it is
unfortunately going to be too costly, perhaps with the exception of
where we are bonding multiple circuits. I'd also be interested in
hearing from anyone who has deployed Adva gear within their POP and then
used cheaper equipment on the B end.

Am happy for people trying to sell me products to contact me off list,
but would also appreciate suggestions from any ISP's out there that are
still actively rolling these services out.

Cheers
Nick.
